There are less than seven days left in the 2021 Major League Soccer season, and with the season’s last matchday approaching, there has been a lot of movement in the standings and our rankings. In Round One, New York City FC will host postseason opponents in the Bronx, while the Portland Timbers have halted their slump, but their grasp on a playoff spot in the Western Conference is as shaky as ever.

Find out who else moved up and down in the rankings this week, as well as where your team stands in our last Power Rankings before Decision Day.

1st place previously

Next MLS match: Nov. 7 @ 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+, against. Miami.

After defeating Colorado 1-0 in midweek, the Revs have established a new record for most points in a season. Bruce Arena can now rest players and prepare for the playoffs now that the Supporters’ Shield has been secured. Carlisle, United Kingdom

3rd place before.

The next MLS match is on November 3 in Austin, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

Sporting grabbed three crucial points with a 2-0 victory against the Galaxy in midweek before losing 2-1 in Minnesota on Sunday. Kansas City is tied for first place in the West with Seattle and Colorado, with games against Austin and RSL remaining this week. Bonagura’s

Previous position: 2

The next MLS match is on November 1st at 10 p.m. ET against the LA Galaxy.

In a 3-0 defeat to LAFC on Tuesday, the Sounders looked hopelessly out of sorts from the start, but they still have two games left to clinch the Western Conference title. Bonagura’s

Previous position: 4

Next MLS match: Nov. 7 @ 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+, versus NYCFC.

The Union are still a good squad, but there are still some doubts about their assault. So the fact that midseason signing Daniel Gazdag is settling in — three goals and two assists in his last four games, including one of each in Philadelphia’s 2-0 victory over FC Cincinnati — is encouraging. Carlisle, United Kingdom

Previous position: 5

Next MLS match: Nov. 7 @ 6 p.m. ET, ESPN+, versus. LAFC.

The Rapids came back from a 1-0 loss to New England on Wednesday with a 1-0 victory over Houston thanks to a Dominique Badji goal. Colorado now has the same number of points as both Kansas City and Seattle, but the Rapids only have one game remaining (against LAFC on Sunday), while SKC and Seattle both have two. Bonagura’s

Previous position: 6

Next MLS match: Nov. 3 @ 7:30 p.m. ET vs Atlanta; ESPN+

The Red Bulls left it late against Montreal, but Fabio’s stoppage-time winner gave them a crucial three points. New York now has two opportunities to secure a playoff berth, but it won’t be easy with games against Atlanta at home and Nashville on the road. Carlisle, United Kingdom

Previous position: 10

The next MLS encounter is on November 2 versus LAFC, at 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

The Whitecaps moved into sixth place in the Western Conference with a 2-1 victory against Minnesota on Wednesday. The club’s biggest game of the season is Tuesday’s match against LAFC, and a victory would secure a playoff berth. If Vancouver loses, it will slip below LAFC, which is now in ninth place, before facing Seattle at the end of the season. Bonagura’s

Previous position: 7

The next MLS match is on Nov. 3 against the New York Red Bulls at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

Atlanta was punished for a lack of killing instinct for the second time this season, failing to capitalize on a 1-0 lead and settling for a 1-1 draw against Toronto. The Five Stripes, who are sixth in the East, have control of their fate, but they must travel to face the New York Red Bulls and FC Cincinnati. The latter seems to be a foregone conclusion, but nothing is certain in the wild world of Major League Soccer. Carlisle, United Kingdom

Previous position: 9

Next MLS match: Nov. 7 at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+, against the Red Bulls.

Nashville drew with Orlando for the league-leading 17th time this season, after a thrilling Wednesday triumph against FC Cincinnati. With his 15th goal of the season against Orlando, Hany Mukhtar continued to make his case for MVP. Carlisle, United Kingdom

Previous position: 11

Next MLS match: Nov. 3 @ 6 p.m. ET, ESPN+, at LA Galaxy.

The Loons overcame Kansas City 2-1 on Sunday to move into fifth place in the Western Conference after a midweek setback to Vancouver. Minnesota will have a clearer idea of where it stands after the midweek matchups, with just one game remaining. Bonagura’s

Previous position: 16

Next MLS match: Nov. 7 @ 3:30 p.m. ET vs Philadelphia; ESPN+

Remember when NYCFC’s season was endangered by a six-game losing streak? No, neither do I. With victories against Chicago and Miami, the Cityzens have now won three straight games and secured a playoff berth. Meanwhile, with 18 goals, Valentin Castellanos has taken over the Golden Boot lead. Carlisle, United Kingdom

Previous position: 5

Next MLS match: Salt Lake City @ 10 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

The Timbers’ three-game losing run came to an end with a 2-0 victory against San Jose, keeping them in contention to host a playoff game with games against RSL and Austin remaining this week. Bonagura’s

14th place before.

Next MLS match: Nov. 2 @ 10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN, against. Vancouver.

Los Angeles FC won 3-0 over Seattle on Tuesday, but the club is still in ninth place, two points behind the Galaxy for the last playoff slot (and a point behind eighth-place RSL). With a victory over Vancouver, LAFC would leapfrog the Whitecaps into sixth place on goal difference before facing Colorado at the end of the season. Bonagura’s

Previous position: 19

Next MLS match: Nov. 7 @ 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+, against. Chicago.

Columbus needed a miracle to make the playoffs, right? After two victories against Orlando and D.C. United, it’s still in reach, with Lucas Zelarayan scoring three goals and contributing two assists in the two games. Caleb Porter’s side will need some aid in addition to taking care of business against the Fire, as three of the Crew’s playoff opponents have a game in hand. Carlisle, United Kingdom

Previous position: 11

Next MLS match: Nov. 7 at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+, at Montreal.

Orlando is still furious, believing it had scored a late winner against Nashville only to be called for a VAR review, resulting in three points being reduced to one. With the defeat to Columbus in the middle of the week, the Lions will almost certainly need a win over Montreal on the last day of the season to secure their playoff spot. It’s not simple at all. Carlisle, United Kingdom

Previous position: 18

The next MLS match will take place on November 1 at 10 p.m. ET in Seattle.

The Galaxy plummeted to the seventh and final playoff slot in the West after a 2-0 defeat to Sporting Kansas City ahead of their last two games of the season (at Seattle, home vs. Minnesota). The Galaxy seemed to be a shoe-in for a home playoff game for most of the season, and suddenly failing to qualify is a genuine worry. Bonagura’s

Previous position: 13

Next MLS match: Nov. 3 @ 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+, vs Houston.

Montreal has now lost two games in a row in stoppage time, losing the team a total of three points that would have made a significant difference in its playoff chances. The most recent lapses occurred against fellow playoff candidates the New York Red Bulls. To reach the playoffs, the team has to win at home against Houston and Orlando, but the heat is on. Carlisle, United Kingdom

Previous position: 17

The next MLS match is on November 7 in Toronto, at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

The Black and Red were on the rise after defeating the Red Bulls in midweek, only to lose to Columbus after taking an early lead. In their last six games, they’ve gone 1-4-1, which doesn’t exactly scream postseason contender. Now DCU has to beat Toronto and have lots of support from other sources. Carlisle, United Kingdom

15th place before.

The next MLS match is on Nov. 3 against Portland at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Salt Lake was able to escape with a 2-1 lead and maybe rescue its playoff aspirations with to two late goals against Dallas on Wednesday, but it followed that up with a disappointing 4-3 defeat to San Jose and remains a point behind the postseason line. Two tough games remain: a home game against Portland and a road game against Kansas City. Bonagura’s

Previous position: 16

The next MLS match is on Nov. 7 against Dallas at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

San Jose’s Chris Wondolowski scored again in a thrilling 4-3 triumph against Real Salt Lake that might have playoff ramifications for the hosts. Cade Cowell’s lengthy goalless streak came to an end with a stunning solo run that epitomizes his hope for the future. Bonagura’s

Previous position: 21

Next MLS match: Nov. 7 @ 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+, versus New England.

Miami was eventually eliminated from playoff contention after losses to Atlanta and NYCFC. Phil Neville was brought in to help the Herons. Going from 1.04 to 1.15 points per game is probably not what Miami’s owners had in mind. Carlisle, United Kingdom

22nd in the previous ranking

Next MLS match: Saturday, November 7 at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+, against Columbus.

The Fire have done all they can to make things tough for the playoff hopefuls now that they have nothing to play for except pride. Despite putting up a fight against NYCFC in midweek, Chicago was defeated 1-0. The club’s hunt for a new coach is still ongoing. Carlisle, United Kingdom

Previous position: 23

The next MLS match is on Nov. 3 against Kansas City at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

With a 2-1 defeat, Austin wasted a chance to leapfrog FC Dallas in the rankings, leaving two tough games this week against Kansas City and Portland to attempt to avoid finishing the season in the Western Conference bottom. Bonagura’s

Previous position: 24

Next MLS match: Nov. 7 @ 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+, vs D.C. United.

The Reds’ playoff chances have long ago faded, but Toronto remains a difficult out for the rest of the Eastern Conference’s playoff contenders. After drawing with Montreal and Philadelphia, TFC drew with Atlanta United courtesy to a late strike by Jordan Perruzza, who scored his first MLS goal. Carlisle, United Kingdom

Previous position: 26

The next MLS match will be on Nov. 7 in San Jose, at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

After a 2-1 victory against Austin, Dallas is unlikely to finish bottom in the Western Conference, but that doesn’t make up for an otherwise poor season. Bonagura’s

Previous position: 25

The next MLS match is on November 3 at Montreal, at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

Only Cincinnati has less victories than Houston (6), which fell 1-0 to Colorado on Sunday and will travel to Montreal on Wednesday for a rare nonconference match. Bonagura’s

Previous position: 27

Next MLS match: Nov. 7 @ 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+, against. Atlanta.

FCC limped to the finish line again, wasting two two-goal leads before losing 6-3 to Nashville and then 2-0 to Philadelphia. It’s been 11 defeats in a row already, but Cincinnati does have something to play for coming into the last week of the season: It will want to avoid shattering its own dubious record of conceding 75 goals in a single season. Cincinnati is in 72nd place with one game remaining. Carlisle, United Kingdom
